Kansei Edict : ウィキペディア英語版 | Kansei Edict
The Kansei Edict (寛政異学の禁 ''kansei igaku no kin'') of 1790 was the enforcement of the Neo-Confucianism of Zhu Xi as the official Confucian philosophy of Japan. The edict banned any teaching or propagation of other studies of Confucianism, including the teachings of scholars such as Ogyu Sorai and Yamaga Soko, who were enjoying popularity at the time. The Kansei Edict established posts filled by two men to oversee all teaching to make sure it conformed to the law. The Edict of Kansei was a part of the Kansei Reforms. ==References==
